The world’s first 3D-printed stainless-steel bridge by MX3D was built in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.

It is 40 feet long and was made possible with the help of Arup, Air Liquide, and Autodesk. This marvel of technology is the result of a joint effort from industry giants.

It took three years for robotic arms to carefully layer hot metal and create this complex structure. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands used a robotic arm to inaugurate the bridge symbolically. This magnificent 13,000-pound masterpiece spans a canal and skillfully combines traditional and innovative engineering techniques.

The unveiling of the bridge was delayed due to canal wall refurbishments, which added to the excitement. The bridge was created using a cost-effective 3D-printing method by MX3D, which claimed it could save up to 80% on large metal structure projects. This bridge symbolizes collaboration between efficiency and creativity and marks a new era in construction. It is a shining example of human ingenuity in Amsterdam’s historic landscape.
